GRATITUDE | A huge thank you to Grant and the team at Harken Australia for their incredibly generous donation of a Vakaros Atlas 2 for SALT-E-7.
This is yet another significant contribution from Harken, who also donated all of the Harken deck fittings and Marlow running rigging during SALT-E-7’s refit throughout late 2025 and into 2026.
Our initial vision was to have a dedicated training vessel. Today, we have a dual-purpose, fit-for-purpose, fit-for-service yacht that provides veterans and their families with the opportunity to learn, build confidence and, if they choose, reignite their competitive drive by racing within the wider sailing community.
The Atlas 2 will be an outstanding addition to our sail training program. It will help instructors and participants better understand boat speed, heel angle, trim, shifts and starting technique, while giving our racing crews the data they need to refine their performance on the water.
And, of course… there’s the racing! 😁
The Vakaros Atlas 2 is widely regarded as one of the finest small-boat sailing instruments available, featuring industry-leading dual-band GPS accuracy, a sunlight-readable display (even with polarized sunglasses), fully customizable data screens, and advanced race-start and performance tools that make every session on the water more valuable.
